Overview

Microsoft will disable Basic Authentication for all Exchange Online users starting on October 1, 2022. For more information, see the Deprecation of Basic authentication in Exchange Online article from Microsoft. 

Impact

Many JAMS customers use Exchange Online to trigger events to start Workload Automation Jobs within JAMS. To communicate with Exchange Online, users/applications need to be authenticated. Today, JAMS uses a Basic Authentication protocol to authorize this activity. Newer protocols, such as Modern Authentication, are not available in JAMS. When Basic Authentication is disabled, users will see an HTTP 401 error message that may cause Jobs to fail.

HelpSystems considers this issue to be critical. 

Action

Microsoft is allowing organizations to submit a request to re-enable or opt out of this proactive protection. These requests need to be submitted to Microsoft by October 1, 2022. After this date, there will be no options available to allow organizations to get this feature re-enabled.
