List of Characters to Avoid When Naming JAMS Objects

Follow

When using JAMS, you have the flexibility to use a wide range of characters, including special symbols when creating names for JAMS Objects. However, to ensure maximum interoperability across various systems, integration, and features, we strongly recommend avoiding certain special characters that may cause unintended behavior.

Additional Recommendations When Naming JAMS Objects

  • Use alphanumeric characters (A-Z, a-z, 0-9) whenever it is possible.
  • Use hyphens (-) or underscores (_) instead of spaces or special symbols.
  • If special symbols are necessary, test thoroughly across all intended use cases.
  • Refer to the documentation for external systems if you are integrating with third-party systems.

By following these recommendations, you can ensure a smoother operation and prevent unexpected behaviors when working with JAMS. If you have any questions, contact the JAMS Support Team.

We are currently updating this list. Specifically to add the ampersand & character.

List list also applies to folder definition names.

I would like to add [ ] characters to this list.

Job names that contain [ ] cannot be filtered for in the projected schedule.
